
We are pleased to share an important update regarding your social security welfare. Effective 1 June 2026, the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) is officially introducing a new mandatory policy: Skim Kemalangan Bukan Bencana Kerja (SKBBK), also known as Lindung 24 Jam.
Previously, SOCSO only provided coverage for workplace injuries or accidents that happened during your daily work commute. With this new initiative, your protection is extended 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, covering you even during off-duty hours, weekends, and holidays.
This scheme covers accidents that are not related to work. For example:
Sports and Recreation: Employees get protection when they suffer injuries while playing football, badminton, jogging, or working out at the gym.
Accidents at Home: Similarly, the scheme also covers employees who fall from a ladder, slip in the bathroom, or suffer other injuries at home.
Road Accidents During Personal Activities: Furthermore, the scheme also covers accidents during weekend trips, personal travel, or any non-work journey. For example, an employee who gets into a road accident while picking up their child from school during lunch break may now get coverage, something that fell into a grey area before.
Natural Disasters: Finally, the scheme also includes accidents that floods, fires, or other disasters within Malaysia cause.
Although the scheme is broad, it does not cover everything. Specifically, the following situations fall outside the scheme:
In all cases, PERKESO will still assess and approve each claim individually.
In general, the scheme covers all employees under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4), including:
Importantly, the scheme has no age limit. As long as you remain employed, you get coverage.
The employee will bear the full cost of the Lindung 24 Jam contribution, and it will increase gradually in three phases as follows:

Importantly, employer contribution rates do not change.
The Lindung 24 Jam offers a wide range of coverage benefits for employees involved in accidents or facing injuries. Among the primary benefits provided are:
24/7 Protection: Round-the-clock coverage, including outside of working hours, during leave, or throughout daily commuting.
Faedah Perubatan: Covers medical treatment costs for accidents or illnesses covered under the scheme.
Faedah Hilang Upaya: FHUS (Faedah Hilang Upaya Sementara) & FHUK (Faedah Hilang Upaya Kekal)
Faedah Orang Tanggungan (FOT): Provides financial assistance to the families of employees involved in serious or fatal accidents.
Elaun Layanan Sentiasa (ELS): Provides an allowance throughout the recovery period for severe cases.
Faedah Pengurusan Mayat (FPM): Assists with funeral management arrangements and costs in the event of death.
Pemulihan dan Pendidikan: Coverage also includes physical rehabilitation programs and educational support for victims of serious injuries.
